Research Overview

Since the 2010s, the gap in economic power between the United States and China has narrowed, and the conflict between the two countries in terms of both security and economy has become more severe. Under these circumstances, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 has further created a serious division of Western countries against China and Russia, both in terms of security and economics. This global situation is seriously impacting the security environment in Northeast Asia. In Japan, new policies and systems are being introduced in economic security to address this.

Given these circumstances, this research analyzes changes in the environment surrounding supply chains in Northeast Asia and the resulting structural changes in supply chains to create a foundation for making necessary policy recommendations.
