The School of Political Science, International Relations and Public Administration (SPSIRPA) of the National University of Mongolia and ERINA-UNP held a joint conference titled “Regional Economies in a Shifting World Order: Northeast Asia Amid Global Uncertainty” on 22 August 2025 in Ulaanbaatar to examine how global geopolitical and economic shifts are affecting Northeast Asia. The program featured presentations on regional developments following the 2024 U.S. elections, prospects for U.S.–DPRK relations, challenges for Mongolia’s Third Neighbor policy, the impacts of “Trump” reciprocal tariffs, and tourism responses to geopolitical risks.

A second session explored broader structural and policy issues, including agricultural efficiency in Japan, China’s emerging “New Quality Productive Forces,” recent changes in Russia’s external trade, Mongolia’s labor market fragility, and climate-resilience initiatives across the region.

The conference gathered scholars and experts from NUM, ERINA-UNP, and partner institutions, fostering productive dialogue on the uncertainties shaping Northeast Asia and reinforcing the growing academic collaboration between the two universities.
