ERINA-UNP and the National University of Mongolia (NUM) jointly held an organized session (Parallel Session D6) titled “Empirical Insights into Labor, Trade, and Market Structure in Mongolia” at the 20th EAEA International Convention held on 8-9 November 2025 in Manila, Philippines. The session was moderated by Prof. Enkhbayar Shagdar (Director, ERINA-UNP) and brought together leading researchers from NUM.
The 90-minute program featured five empirical studies addressing key issues in Mongolia’s development, including:
• gender, networks, and entrepreneurial performance;
• labor supply responses to pension system reform;
• wage differentials and labor market frictions;
• long-term impacts of natural resource exports on growth and welfare;
• the economic effects of dzud on herder households.
Following the presentations, participants engaged in a lively discussion on policy implications and future research directions. The session highlighted the importance of rigorous empirical evidence for understanding Mongolia’s evolving economic structure and reaffirmed the strong research partnership between ERINA-UNP and NUM.
ERINA-UNP will continue to contribute to regional academic dialogue and promote collaborative research across Northeast Asia.
