International Exchange Center

Message from the Director

Matsuo Watanabe
Professor, Faculty of International Studies and Regional Development
Director, International Exchange Center

One of the Basic Principles of the University of Niigata Prefecture is “Development of an International Perspective.” In order to realize this principle the International Exchange Center was launched at the same time as the establishment of the university. To date we have concluded exchange agreements with universities in the United States, Canada, China, Korea and Russia and have played a role in the educational and research activities of the university, through the promotion of overseas studies and overseas language training opportunities for students, support for the study of foreign languages and the holding of various lectures. We seek to further expand our exchange partnerships with overseas universities, increasing opportunities for our students to engage in study overseas and also increasing the number of foreign exchange students here at the University of Niigata Prefecture.

We hope that by studying at universities overseas, participating in overseas language study and international exchange programs and by using our Self-Access Learning Center (SALC), all students will be able to boost their language skills, broaden their horizons globally and gain the confidence and capabilities to tackle international challenges. The International Exchange Center will actively support students who seek to engage in such endeavors.

Major Activities of the International Exchange Center

  1. Planning and support for exchanges with overseas universities.
  2. Operation of International Exchange Programs and Study Abroad Programs, as well as promotion and support for overseas study.
  3. Support for Overseas Language Study (English, Chinese, Korean, Russian).
  4. Development of systems to accept overseas students and support for academic and daily activities.
