About the University
University Overview
The newly-established University of Niigata Prefecture opened in April 2009 and operates as a local independent administrative institution (public university corporation). The university is comprised of two faculties: the Faculty of International Studies and Regional Development and the Faculty of Human Life Studies, and admits approximately 240 students as of December 2009. As the university is new, only first year students are enrolled in 2009. The number of students is expected to rise to approximately 1000 once students are enrolled across all four year levels.
